Residency

On the second floor of the artist house Gjutars, there is an artist’s residence, which is rented to artists all over the world. The residency cooperation, which began in 2002, has created opportunities for co-operation with foreign visual artists and given Vantaa-based visual artists the opportunity to work and hold exhibitions across Europe. In addition, the Vantaa audience has been able to get to know foreign culture and art. Artists have the opportunity to apply for a residency of 1-5 months. Until now, the residence has had guests e.g. from Iceland, Austria, South Korea, Germany, Namibia, Lithuania, France, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Estonia, Russia and the United States.

The rent is 425 €/month. During the months of April-October, the apartment is reserved for Vantaa Artists Association’s residency partners in Hungary, Estonia, Iceland, Austria and Sweden. The residence apartment is therefore available from November to March.

The Gjutars residence apartment:

includes a room, a small kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony
is equipped with tableware, microvawe, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, oven, washing machine, TV, radio and bed linen
has a wifi

The studio:

has a worktable
has an easel
has running water
has the possibility to accomodate a guest for a short-term period → there is a convertible sofa

The artists must bring their own materials and equipment. Together the apartment and the studio are approximately 35 m2 in size. Electricity, water, heating and internet are included in the rent. In addition to the rent, the artist must pay a deposit of 50 €. The money will be refunded if the apartment has been cleaned and is in good condition. There is also a bicycle the artist can use during his/her stay. Ask more information from the office.
