QUIET LUXURY: Open Call for Summer 2026 Residencies

At TUO TUO, we think about luxury a little differently. For us, it’s the hush of the forest, the shimmer of long summer light, the kind of quiet that lets ideas take shape.

Imagine this:

Stillness.
Moments of deep quiet.
Twenty hours of daylight.
A renovated schoolhouse at the edge of the woods.

And then there’s the everyday magic:
Cold well water.

A wood-burning sauna.
Refreshing lake dips.
A small boat waiting at the shoreline.
Wild herbs and medicinal plants growing just outside your door.

Summer 2026, we’re reopening our doors for (3) international artists who are ready to sink into a slower way of working and living.

Residency details:

The residency costs 2,200 EUR/month and includes:

• A fully furnished private apartment (with Wi-Fi, sound system, modern kitchen, and bathroom)
• A spacious, separate working studio in the same building
• Weekly round-trips into town (with a driver)
• Onsite peer-to-peer and technical support
• Guidance on local ecology
• Tailored one-on-one workshops or tutorials based on your practice

Optional opportunities include performing, exhibiting, or hosting an event during your stay. Applications are open to individual artists, couples and small families.

TUO TUO is more than a place—it’s a project space, residency program, publishing platform, and community hub. Founded in 2020, it blurs the line between city and countryside, giving artists lasting access to this rural landscape and its rhythms. Housed in a former schoolhouse in Joutsa’s Pynnölä-Uimaniemi village, TUO TUO brings together sound, visual art, performance, and environmental practices in a constantly evolving collaborative network.
